Let’s Cook Ukraine
Over the coming months, Staffordshire Archives and Heritage Service is working together with communities across the county to create an exciting new recipe book. The book will be filled with dishes from across Eastern Europe, which are being contributed by individuals who identify with Eastern European heritage. People participating in the project are choosing a recipe they feel represents, and connects them to, their national and/or cultural heritage.
So far, recipes have been both sweet and savoury, dishes that are made on special occasions and those which are cooked more regularly, and variations on the same dish depending on regional or family recipe!
We hope the project will be a wonderful way to celebrate Staffordshire’s national and cultural diversity, to share the cultural heritage of its residents, and allow communities to connect with their identities and one another.
Once the recipe book has been printed, it will become an archive itself as well as being distributed to Staffordshire libraries for everyone to enjoy – and have a go at making the recipes.
If you would like to be involved in the project and contribute a recipe, please contact our Community History Development Officer, hannah.grangesales@staffordshire.gov.uk.
