It is a very exciting time as we enter the final stages of construction work on the Staffordshire History Centre.
Earlier this year the building was made watertight when the large areas of glazing were installed. You can see this happening in our time-lapse video.

Our new four storey strong room extension has been completed and you can now see our logo from North Walls. The construction methods used mean that we can maintain excellent environmental conditions which will maintain stable temperatures and humidity and reduce light exposure.

Inside the centre, as we head towards the end of the construction phase, finishing touches are appearing: doors are being installed, toilets have been plumbed, walls have been painted and our new welcome desk is being built. Outside our Lion statues are now in place ready to greet visitors and new paving is being laid.

This summer we will move to the next phases of the project which include the internal fit out of the exhibition space, curating our displays and the installation of digital and physical interpretation. We can’t wait to share more updates soon and look forward to welcoming you to the Staffordshire History Centre later this year.
